Trauma Therapy
Find Healing from Trauma: Reclaim Safety, Peace, and Connection
Trauma is not just something that happened in the past it can live in the body and quietly shape how you experience the present. Overwhelming triggers, emotional shutdown, or a sense of disconnection are not personal failures; they are your nervous system’s learned ways of protecting you.
My work in trauma therapy is to help you gently understand these responses and develop new ways to feel safe, grounded, and connected both within yourself and in your relationships.
Common Effects of Trauma
You may notice some of the following experiences:
Feeling overwhelmed by triggers in everyday situations
Experiencing emotional shutdown or intense outbursts that feel difficult to control
Struggling to trust or connect deeply with others
Becoming stuck in repetitive conflict cycles, where small issues quickly escalate
Living with constant anxiety, avoidance, or hypervigilance
Feeling numb, disconnected, or as though you’re simply going through the motions
Healing is possible. With the right support, your nervous system can learn that safety exists in the present allowing space for calm, clarity, and meaningful connection to return.
What Kind of Trauma Can We Address?
Trauma is not one-size-fits-all. I help clients heal from single events ("Big T") or accumulated painful experiences ("small t"), including:
Sexual abuse, assault, and childhood abuse or neglect
Domestic violence, toxic relationships, and grief
Medical trauma, serious illness, death or witnessing violence
Life transitions (immigration, divorce, loss) that shatter safety
Your pain is valid. This is a place to heal.
My Approach: How We Heal Together
I tailor our work to your story using evidence-based methods:
Understanding Your Story - We explore how past experiences shape your present understanding the "why" behind reactions to heal at the source and build secure connections.
Reprocessing with EMDR Therapy - EMDR helps your brain naturally reprocess traumatic memories so they lose their emotional charge and feel like part of the past.
Healing with Parts Work (IFS) -This compassionate approach helps you understand different "parts" within you (like the inner critic or wounded child) with curiosity, fostering integration and self-leadership.
Building a Meaningful Present with ACT therapy -ACT helps you make peace with difficult thoughts and feelings, focusing on your core values to build a rich, meaningful life.
